What is QM's average saving on claimant bills?
We are confident that our very impressive figures are the best in the industry. Please give us a call and we will be delighted to share them with you.
What are QM's charges?
Charging options vary with the type, volume and complexity of work undertaken. Where hourly rates apply, they vary with the seniority of fee earners conducting the work.
How do I get my file to QM?
You can send your files to us via post or DX, or if you have an electronic file, via email and internet. Alternatively our client services adviser can arrange simple and reliable courier collection, including same day collection if the matter is very urgent.
Do I always need to send QM the complete file?
It depends on the work you would like us to carry out for you. If you wish us to draft a bill for you, or to negotiate claimant costs, we do ideally need the complete file. However if you need your file before we have completed the costs work, we can arrange to return it to you quickly. If we are simply attending a hearing, we would need all documents relied on and relating to the hearing.

Does QM handle cases which are already litigated?
QM handles costs in even the most complex litigated cases. Many of our insurance clients have standing instructions with their panel solicitors that following settlement of damages, all matters are to be forwarded to QM for registration of the claimant's costs. QM will take instructions from the panel solicitors. We have a very good working relationship with most of the major panel firms, who often use QM even when not required to do so by their client.
What if the panel solicitor does not want to continue to act?
The matter can be transferred to QM solicitors, our sister firm of solicitors in the same ownership as QM, who will file a notice of change and go on the Court record, handling all aspects of the case.
What happens when costs-only proceedings are issued?
Where an unlitigated case handled by QM becomes litigated by the commencement of costs-only proceedings after we have entered negotiations and where the client does not specify another firm to go on the Court record, QM Solicitors will take over conduct of the matter. The transfer process is simple. However, QM is happy to take instructions and work with any firm of solicitors who the client nominates.
Can you represent us at detailed assessment?
QM employ costs solicitors and costs draftsmen with ALCD qualifications and many years experience of costs drafting and attending detailed assessment hearings. QM is therefore able to undertake conduct of its own hearings and usually does not use counsel or agents unless it is more cost effective for the client.
What about other hearings?
QM Solicitors can attend any hearing in which solicitors have rights of audience. QM's costs people can accompany counsel or solicitors at other hearings if the need arises and can attend as experts on costs issues.
Does QM provide overall performance reports?
QM provides a report on the outcome of negotiations at the conclusion of a matter. QM also provides standard performance reports for clients who send volume work on a monthly or quarterly basis, by email or in hard copy, in a variety of formats and via this web site. Non-standard reports can be provided by separate arrangement.
How often will I receive progress updates?
QM fee earners keep clients and defence panel firms, if any, informed of significant developments and provide regular updates, according to client preference. For example, some clients want to receive a progress report every 28 days, whilst others do not wish to hear at all until the matter is completed. We will act in accordance with your instructions. Alternatively you can obtain progress updates when you wish via the internet.
Who will be responsible for managing the relationship we have with QM?
Your account will be managed by a dedicated key account manager who will help with all issues other than case-specific matters.
