QM Environmental Policy
We recognise that our business activities have an impact on the environment and we are committed to ensuring that environmental objectives are considered when formulating our business strategy. We are committed to continual improvement in meeting the aims of our environmental policy and we will conduct our own activities and operations so as to improve the effect of our business on the environment, reflecting best environmental practice as far as possible.
In managing our business, in the short term we will:
- Review our activities, operations and procedures to areas in which we can improve the effect of our business activities on the environment and we will prioritise action s to address them
- Implement an environmental management system appropriate to the size and nature of our business activities to demonstrate our commitment to achieving our environmental aims
- Establish an environmental management committee to drive forward commitments made in our environmental policy and we will internally publish progress reports
- Take measures to increase staff awareness of environmental issues and individual environmental responsibilities and ensure that environmental management is included within our staff induction and training programmes
- Promote awareness of the environmental impact of business and commuter travel and encourage staff to think about and where possible change their travel behaviour
- Promote the reduction and recycling of waste in the office
- Meet all relevant environmental legislative and regulatory requirements
- Reduce energy and resource consumption by promoting effective and efficient reduction methods consistent with best practice
- Encourage staff to play an active role in achieving our environmental objectives via an environmental management committee
- Develop and implement an environmental management strategy including specific measurable objectives
In the longer term we will:
- Set and achieve measurable targets in specific areas for reducing the negative effect of our business activities on the environment
- Where appropriate, use the most resource-efficient technologies and media for communicating and maintaining records
- Purchase, wherever possible, environmentally-preferable goods and services and influence our suppliers and contractors to ensure that goods and services supplied support our environmental policy
- Publish our environmental policy to share information with others to help contribute to a better understanding of environmental issues
- Carry out an internal company environmental audit at least once every year, report internally on progress and review and revise this policy statement and our environmental strategy accordingly
